We Love Handover Day!
As much as we love our puppies, Handover Day is never sad as we see the joy our puppies bring their new families.
Whether you want a puppy at sometime in the future or as soon as possible, there are a few steps to follow to ensure we can find your dream puppy companion for your household.
Follow these steps to your own Waterhill Puppy
1. TELL US ABOUT YOU
We’d love to learn more about you, your home and your family and what you have in mind for your future pup so we can find the best puppy for you.
Please share your story with us at RightPaw or on our CONTACT page, letting us know your best timing and your dream puppy. I’ll contact you within a couple of days to say hello and to answer any questions you may have so we can get to know each other better.
2. LITTER WATCH
If you’re dreaming of a puppy for your family now – have a look at our Current Litters page to meet our puppies and their parents—is there a puppy there you love – if so ask us if they are available.
If you’re planning on bringing a puppy home in future, look at our Planned Litters page to see if we may have a puppy available at the perfect time for you and let us know what you’re hoping for.
3. JOIN OUR LISTS
We offer both a Litterlist for current and confirmed litters AND a Standby List for future litters.
To reserve your spot on the Litterlist for either a current litter or confirmed planned litter we request you pay a $500 reservation fee. We keep our Litterlist to a reasonable number depending on the mumma, how many puppies we can expect, how many pups we see on an ultrasound etc so that waiting time is kept to a minimum.
After our Litterlists are filled we keep a Standby List for anyone who would like to be informed about puppies that may become available OR for future planned litters.

Once our puppies pass all their health checks (at approx. 6 weeks of age) we make them available to families on our Litterlist (and standby list if applicable) to meet and select. We invite you to Waterhill to meet them in person OR we will schedule a video call.
During this time we will provide guidance on temperament to ensure your puppy will fit into your household, we don’t allocate puppies purely on appearance. This is an exciting time for us as we watch families and puppies bond.
5. PREPARE & COUNTDOWN
Puppies are ready to leave us after they are 8 weeks of age, so you may have some time between choosing your dream puppy and taking them home. During this time we recommend preparing for your puppy’s arrival by purchasing what they need, securing your yard or balcony and puppy proofing your home.
We will supply you with shopping lists, TO DO lists and Puppy Care information to help you prepare. Mark your puppy’s Handover Day in your diary and organize transport if required.

The best part of our job is handing over puppies to their new families!
On Handover day we allocate plenty of time for you to ask your last minute questions, and have your first Puppy Playtime.
